A Canandaigua, New York, man convicted just last month of raping a high school senior held captive for days is now accused of orchestrating a murder-for-hire plot, allegedly through jailhouse calls with his girlfriend, against a judge, prosecutor, and witness who put him behind bars.

Alexander Kise was already in danger of serving half a century in prison following his mid-March convictions for sexually assaulting and unlawfully imprisoning an 18-year-old high school student he met online and invited over to stay the weekend with him in June 2022. After he was jailed but before he could be sentenced, Kise allegedly plotted with his girlfriend, Alydia Gater, to use Xanax “pills as down payment” for an assassin, who was in reality an undercover cop, to kill the judge in the case. That led to Gater’s arrest, too.

But prosecutors in Ontario County District Attorney’s Office alleged that the plot’s target victims also included one of their own prosecutors and a witness in the rape case.

“There was actually very affirmative actions taken on behalf of Alexander Kise by his girlfriend and others. There is a juvenile who is charged in this case also to take the life of a judge and there was plans to take the life of an assistant district attorney and a person who testified in his original trial,” Assistant District Attorney Kelly Wolford announced Thursday, revealing that a 16-year-old was also arrested.

Kise and his girlfriend made the obvious mistake of discussing their plot in jailhouse calls, using specifics like where the targets lived, prosecutors alleged. Then, the plot allegedly moved forward when pills were offered to a New York State Police officer as a down payment for a hit on the judge, Wolford said.

At the rape trial, prosecutors said that starting on June 5, 2022, Kise sexually assaulted the victim and strangled her over a two-day period, unlawfully imprisoning her. Next, he got his grandmother to go to a hospital with the victim, telling a story that the victim’s injuries were due to a mugging, local ABC affiliate WHAM reported.

Kise threateningly showed off a knife before his grandmother and the 18-year-old entered the hospital, telling the victim not to tell anyone else what had happened or else he’d harm her and her family, the report said. The day after the hospital visit, the victim reportedly used an Uber to escape Kise.
