CHICAGO — The man who pulled a woman into a West Loop alley in an apparent sex crime ran away after the victim bit his finger during the attack, Chicago police said. Now, CPD is asking the public to help them track the man down.

Police said the 35-year-old victim was walking north on Carpenter Street from Randolph Street when the man approached her from behind around 5:24 a.m. on April 14.

He grabbed the woman by the waist and put his hands over her mouth as he dragged her into an alley, police said in a newly released bulletin. Once they were in the alley, the woman bit his index finger, prompting him to throw the woman to the ground and run away.

He was last seen heading east on Randolph Street. Police describe him as a 30- to 35-year-old Hispanic man with short hair. His jacket is white and green.

Information about the case can be shared with Area Three detectives at 312-744-8200. The case number is JH-224931.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
