CHICAGO — A woman was robbed at gunpoint while walking with two children in Ravenswood on Sunday evening. The holdup occurred one night after a couple, including a pregnant woman, were physically attacked in the neighborhood during a possible robbery.

Around 9:20 p.m. Sunday, a 45-year-old woman was walking in the 4300 block of North Oakley when two men got out of a silver sedan. They both displayed guns, a Chicago police spokesperson said. The men took the woman’s property, then returned to the car and drove away.

An officer who responded to the scene said the robbers were two Black men wearing ski masks. One wore a red, black, and white hoodie, while the other was dressed entirely in black.

On Saturday evening, a man and woman, both 33 years old, were physically attacked in the 5000 block of North Wolcott by three men who exited a gray sedan pulled up around 10:15 p.m.

Police said one of the men pulled out a “blunt object, resulting in a physical altercation with both victims.” The group returned to the car, and one of them fired at least one shot from the vehicle before it left the area, striking no one.

A source familiar with the incident said the male victim was in the process of surrendering his wallet when the altercation began. However, the group left without getting anything from the victims. The exact motive for the crime has not been determined.

The woman was taken to Swedish Hospital for treatment. The police said her condition had stabilized. The male victim declined medical attention.

Both robberies occurred in CPD’s Town Hall (19th) District, where robbery reports were up 46% as of last Monday. Robbery reports in Town Hall are up 69% or more compared to every other year since at least 2020, the most recent year listed in CPD’s weekly statistics report.
